Again I am being a heathen, but I dont get it?? Is it the colour, flow, brush strokes??? Which I can see and appreciate, thereafter it loses it for me.

Very nice express... I'm hoping to be back in the UK for his show at Elms later on in the year.

Ian, Im partly with you I guess. I can see its well done and I like the style, but I dont 'need' it I guess... Its one of the great things about art really. We like what like... Im sure most people dont 'get' half the stuff I buy and enthuse over

It's all in the eye of the beholder mate..one mans meat and all that. I think Holden summed it quite well without even knowing it.

yeah i'm personally more into the Parla side of things these days. getting a bit over stencils, i like to see some brush strokes and colour. but i totally agree that it's great that everyone has different tastes. makes things way more interesting.

I understand why people can't 'see' the Parla. I guess you have to see it in the flesh to really appreciate it. It's calligraphy, so it's more about feeling it. It's abstract, so you either get it or you don't. And it helps when the artist gives you an explanation behind the piece.
I show friends this piece, half of them don't get it. They like their watercolour landscapes and still lifes.
But to all collectors of art, it's the biggest ideas that last the longest.

Just saw some more pics of his work posted from the Italian show. I think I have always appreciated it but the more I see the more I get it and like it. Yours is very nice e-post compared to the t'others. I think as you said its the calligraphy style of this piece that is strong

Absolutely love Parla's work. A big gap in my collection that I will try to address when and if I ever have any spare money!
