Hi , I have been lurking for a while now but as the current economic crisis grips the U.K. I have been able to pick up my first Banksy U/S trolleys for a bargain 500 quid from banksy.info well happy with it too I might add. What I would like to know is some good framers in Sydney (inner west eastern suburbs), I would ideally like to float mount in black box frame, what prices would I be looking at? cheers

Hey Howie In Sydney too There's some blurb here auscollectors.proboards47.com/index.cgi?board=linksandrEssentially Tugi is the best to fully conservation and archive standard but as with most things you get what you pay for.....its a tad more than your usual high street framer Have used the framers round the corner from Dolce and gelato in Newtown, next to the art shop on Wilson Street and they are very good and cheaper. Had a Faile that was floated, peeled off (due to the weight of the paper they used) and they re-framed it no questions asked and highly apologetic.....great service. Will dig out the name if your interested.

cheers holden , I popped into that Framer on sat as I drive past it on the way home, they were really knowlegable and helpful in regards to what I was framing, They explained how they float mount and told me they had done a few banksy's before. I am glad to here you have had a good experience, It might just sway me now

I started with a small piece, a tiny Luke Cheuh and worked my way up. I'll be going back. Unsure of the price of UV glass/museum glass as havent needed it yet. My Faile TE which has just come back in a big black fvck off box frame was about $400. I'll post pics soon.
Let us know how you go and show us your wares

Just the thrad i was after. I remember meeting Tugi when we were discussing the show and he said he did a lot of bulk framing jobs. Do any of you guys know if he givesa dicount? and what kind of discount. i wouldn't mind getting everything i have done up.. and secondly i need advice... i got my J&J the other day and the tube was absolutely destroyed. i had practically been flattened, the plastic lids had been crushed and pushed in.. the print came out ok and i though i was lucky. but today i checked the print and there are 3 creases top to bottom on the print they are not too bad, can see them in the right light. but i was wondering if flattening under books or what not will get rid of them? any ideas?

I dont know on the discount?? Not sure if he needs the work that much, he is always busy. No harm in asking tho' and maybe worth organising a batch from here. I've got one that I would only trust Tugi to do and can always find more.....more than I have $ for!
Agree on asking him about the creases too. Ive seen some advice given over on the darkside from spraying with water and compressing, using ear buds and ironing with and without steam, with and without brown paper....but I think there comes a time to call the experts in!
Let me know how you go with the creases. I have a print with similar marks.

I would defo ask Tugi. Hes Gold when it comes to this kind of stuff. I dont know about discounts as like Holden I know Tugi doesnt need to look for work, and whilst he isnt cheap, he is the best imho.

So I think you've used Tugi the most jonw, does he have a wide selection of frames? Looking for something a bit different in a dark chunky wood

Yeah I probably have, hes a top bloke and his framer is a great bloke too When you go in to the reception area they have a bunch of frames there Holden, but im sure if you need something special they can help too. The Perspex boxes rock as well as some other stuff he has not as obviously displayed. He did have some lovely old dark wood he was telling me about a few months back, try him on that and see what he says
