So naturally collecting all this artwork has gotte nme interested in stencils so i thought i would try my hand. I think i am a creative person but cannot get my creativity down on paper, i cannot draw or paint to save my life, however i think stencils are accesible for anyone, even me. Anyway here are images of my first attempt. Original image is one i took at my friends wedding in March. I'm giving this to them today as a late wedding present. I spent all of saturday cutting. I had to do it all over again when I realised crappy A4 paper is useless for cutting a stencil and curls up after having paint applied. Second time i used card and it worked well. Today my neck is SO sor, my fingers feel like they are shredded, but overall a fun thing to do.

Thats an incredible canvas mate and its such a wonderful gesture for your friends.
Lovely detail and a really clean finish.
What paint did you use? What canvas size is it?
Peace. Joe J

Thanks Joe. Well here's the thing, because i'm a noob i wasn't sure if i was supposed to prep the canvases or use any special paint etc.. so i just sprayed directly onto the fresh canvas using some matte black spray i got from the local paint shop. I also bought a yellowish colour which i was going to use for a second layer on her flowers in the bouqet and hair. but i couldn't figure it out.. i tried on card and it came out a bit meh. I've got the bug though... will be looking for another one to do, hopefully multi-layered. Canvas size is 12x12 deep box

Very nice. Havent had a go myself but managed to corrupt my workmate. She progressed to lino and swore it was good as it didnt soften or fuzz the edges. Good effort and agree lovely gift and gesture
